CENTRO DE CIENCIAS DE SINALOA
CULIACÁN, SINALOA
MÉXICO
The Centro de Ciencias de Sinaloa (Sinaloa’s Center of Sciences), has renewed itself and creates what will be the most innovative Museum of Science and Technology in the entire Mexican Republic. But, is the Center of Sciences a museum? The work of the Center of Sciences and the museum experience shouldn’t be apart? These were some of the many questions we asked ourselves when tackling this project.
01. THE CHALLENGE
The aim was to generate a unique and dynamic learning space, which in turn would become an icon of the city, and why not, of the entire country. The museum will feature the Cubo Negro 8K (Black Cube 8k) developed by Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, unique in the world; it will have the sanctuary of the “Bacubirito”, the longest meteorite in the world; its inaugural cycle will feature Theo Jansen’s Strandbeest; It will collaborate with the largest and most important museums in the world, such as the Miraikan in Japan or the Pompidou Centre in France, among many other characteristics that will make it a world-class museum.
02. OUR MASTER PLAN
The challenge was enormous. And this is how we solved it.
